Signs You Need To Replace or Fix Electric Panels
1) The electric panel is outdated. Certain types of electric panels are not covered by some insurance carriers and have a possibility of not breaking properly or catching fire. Federal Pacific Electric Panels or FPE Panels should be repalced to lower homeowners insurance risk rating. Zinsco Electric panels should be replaced to lower homeowners insurance risk ratings. You can tell the difference in these panels as the colors of the breaker switches are different.
2) You smell burning from the electric panel or there is smoke or signs of burning or melting. Any of these signs require immediate attention and most likely require your electric panel to be replaced.
3) Your lights are flickering, breakers keep tripping, or you are not getting enough power. Sometimes, your electric panel may need to be updated in Amps or your electric panel may need to be repaired or refurbished.
